Bio: Angela Cornelius Dawson, ODADAS Director

Angela Cornelius Dawson

Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services Director

In March 2007, Governor Ted Strickland appointed Angela Cornelius Dawson director of the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services (ODADAS) -- the cabinet-level state agency that plans and coordinates an extensive system of services designed to prevent substance abuse and treat Ohio’s addicted populations.

Under Dawson’s direction, ODADAS earned the highly-sought federal “Access to Recovery” grant, launched the state’s web-based outcomes reporting system and garnered bipartisan Congressional recognition for the implementation of its “Think Outside the Stigma” public awareness campaign.

Before becoming ODADAS director, Dawson served as executive director of Project Linden, Inc. since 1998, a private nonprofit outpatient alcohol and other drug treatment and prevention service provider.  She received her bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation education, a master’s degree in counseling and guidance and a second master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling from Wright State University.
